What do I need to bring to my Initial CCW class?
Any legal firearm you plan to carry, plus eye and ear protection — earplugs and sound-dampening earmuffs together work best. You'll also need enough ammunition to complete live-fire qualification; the required round count depends on the county, generally ranging from 18 to 24 rounds, with a passing score of 70%.
How long is a California CCW permit valid?
California CCW permits are currently valid for 2 years. Starting in 2027, that renewal period extends to 3 years.
